Our Journey

December 2024

A Club is Born

Columbia Lioness Quantitative, a pre-professional finance club at Columbia, was founded to address a glaring imbalance in the world of quantitative finance and financial engineering—a field where women make up less than 20% of professionals and an even smaller percentage in leadership roles. Recognizing this disparity, our founders Anna Zueva, Sophia Moore, and Alexandra Delgado envisioned a community where women could gain hands-on experience, develop leadership skills, and form lasting connections in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

Making Connections

Plans go into action! We host our first ever partnered event with the Columbia Center for Career Education, focusing on resume improvement. At this time, the full 12-person executive board is also established to set our ambitions into action (see e-board lunch on the top left). Anna and Sophia pitch CLQ to Forte Foundation, making important connections along the way (bottom left).

We also were thrilled to host Joseph Selby from Old Mission Capital to learn about market-making and quant work at his firm, as well as how to navigate their recruiting process.
